Having returned a few years before from NYC to the relative seclusion of his native New Hampshire, multi-instrumentalist Tom Weir started recording in his home studio as OLD MOON in the waning days of 2019. The songs he was writing—mystical, head-rush dreampop in the finest tradition of bands like For Against or Red Temple Spirits—were heavily informed by Weir's marked change in setting and daily routine, taking stock of regrets and euphorias alike from the hectic days that now seemed worlds away. The unforeseen calamities beginning over the next several months, just as for so many artists and communities the world over, would provide an entirely new scope and context for those discovering Weir's personal documents of quiet retreat, sleepless nights, and lost time as OLD MOON debuted to little fanfare with two EPs in the summer of 2020.

Now, in the wake of Weir's acclaimed full-length debut "Altars," Sister Cylinder is proud to present this exclusive reissue compilation of the project's early self-released material. Bringing together the out-of-print "Past Lives" cassette and digital-only "Messenger" release, this compilation also includes the previously unheard track "Stranger." All the way from spectral New England forests, hear the vivid, hypnogogic origin point of the unfolding dreampop story of OLD MOON.
